The Devotion: 1 Corinthians 12:4
Published on September 28, 2021
In class today I had a slide I have several white swans and one black swan. For years I never knew nor did many of my students know that “black swans” existed. My ignorance of black swans was connected to my exposure. I had never seen a black swan only white ones.
Sometimes we just don’t know what we don’t know!
We went on to talk about a swan who in his early years did not know he was a swan…That’s right I’m talking about “The Ugly Duckling” Because he was different from the other ducklings, he thought he was ugly. He did not know he was a swan! The emphasis for me was the power of a negative perception! We must learn and encourage one another that different does not mean “ugly” or wrong! God designed each of us in a unique fashion just the way he planned it. Paul tells us, there are diversity of gifts! Seek the Giver not the gift and give Him Glory…The one who made you “different”.
Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit; and there are varieties of service, but the same Lord; and there are varieties of activities, but it is the same God who empowers them all in everyone.
