“Wonder”

“Wonder”

August 29

Do you ever have those days you are in “wonder” of the goodness of God…and a little later in the day or a few days you “wander” from what you recently had seen or heard?
We are not alone. In the Gospel of Matthew, Jesus had just fed 4000 men, in addition to all the women and children. They all ate as much as they wanted. Afterward, the disciples picked up seven large baskets of leftover food…

…Then Jesus sent the people home, and he got into a boat and crossed over to the region of Magadan. (Read Matthew 15:32 – 39) Chapter 16 starts out… One day the Pharisees and Sadducees came to test Jesus, demanding that he show them a miraculous sign from heaven to prove his authority…

Later, after they crossed to the other side of the lake, the disciples discovered they had forgotten to bring any bread. “Watch out!” Jesus warned them.
“Beware of the yeast of the Pharisees and Sadducees.”
(Matthew 16:5-6)

Pay attention to the words “warned them.” While driving the other day in a different city there was a “warning sign” ⛔️ about workers on the road, letting me know what I was about to encounter. The scripture tells us the disciples are now arguing with each other about who forgot the food. Jesus rebukes them about their faith and repeats “Beware of the yeast of the Pharisees and Sadducees” then they realized Jesus wasn’t talking about bread 🍞 but, how they could be influenced by the doubt and unbelief of others. “Yeast brings life to the bread” it influences the dough!

Be careful today of the yeast that may influence your faith!
Lord, grant us wisdom and discernment today! To continue to “Wonder and not Wander”
