August is almost over, and Labor Day is less than a week away! I can remember how my church in Texas would have an annual family picnic 🧺 day to end the summer. The gathering would be a time of good eating , laughing and games with the brothers and sisters from the church. It actually depicted a “family reunion “. Music 🎼 🎶 was a given. Line dancing, dominos and tables of good Food 🥘!
Oh yeah and the “for real Mac and cheese! 🧀 😉you would hear family stories, laughter and double dutch.
When the sports 🏈 🏀 competition grew intense 🔥 the DJ would feel the vibe of the moment and change the atmosphere with the song…
“ We are family!”
Everyone would “pause” what they were doing, grab onto somebody and shout the lyrics “I got all my sisters (or brothers) with me!” As the family of God, we were being reminded of our need for one another as the season shifts into fall school work and added responsibilities for families.
In the days ahead there will be some difficulties. Jesus said…the world 🌎 you will have tribulation, earthquakes and plagues. Paul said: “ in the last days difficult times will come!” When things are intense in our personal worlds’ 🌎 be mindful not to lash out against one another! But like the DJ… listen for the Holy Spirit to shift the atmosphere. 🎵 We are family…better yet, Hezekiah Walker would say: I Need You To Survive! Connect with a brother or sister and pray, encourage and buildup on another!
