Matthew 16:5-6

Matthew 16:5-6

The proximity of wonder and wander!
There are times that I am in “wonder” of the goodness of God…and a few days later I “wander” from what I’ve recently seen or heard?
We are not alone. In the Gospel of Matthew, Jesus had just fed 4000 men, in addition to all the women and children. They all ate as much as they wanted and had leftovers. Jesus sent the people home, got into a boat and crossed over to the region of Magadan. Some days later, the Pharisees and Sadducees came to test Jesus, demanding He show them a miraculous sign from heaven to prove his authority…after they crossed the lake, the disciples realized they had forgotten to bring any bread. “Watch out!” Jesus warned them. “Beware of the yeast of the Pharisees and Sadducees.” (Matthew 16:5-6)
Seeing a “warning sign” ⛔️ about workers on the road, lets us know what is ahead. Matthew tells us the disciples were arguing about who forgot the food. Jesus rebukes them about their faith and repeats “Beware of the yeast of the Pharisees and Sadducees” then they realized Jesus wasn’t talking about bread 🍞 but, how they could be influenced by the doubt and unbelief of others. “Yeast brings life to the bread” it influences the dough!
Be careful today of the yeast that may influence your faith!
Lord, grant us wisdom and discernment today! To continue to “Wonder and not Wander”
